School’s Out For Summer!
What a great year we’ve had! Our Christmas Fair, Baby Thru Year 6 sales, Travelling Trends, and the Summer Festival have all been phenomenally successful events thanks to the hard work of the PTFA members and the school and parent communities who have pulled together on all of these occasions! Our fundraising total for the academic year exceeds £4000 which given the difficulties faced by many schools in the current economic climate, is pretty remarkable!
Our challenge now is to decide how best to spend these funds, ensuring that all of the children in the school benefit. In the new term, we will be asking Mrs Cremin to invite the children’s school council and teachers to put forward ideas for a significant piece of outdoor equipment, which has both play and educational uses, which will be the focus for our fundraising activities next year. In direct response to suggestions from parents, we are also proposing to set up bursaries for the coming year including one aimed specifically at funding new sports clubs and activities at the school - an area that many parents feel is in urgent need of development. We would also like to set aside grants for other school projects - covering both Key Stages - including other sports, music and performance clubs as well as external trips and visits. Again, we welcome ideas and help from parents in identifying and running these new activities.
Our first meeting of the new term will be on Friday 10th September at 2pm at the school and all are welcome. We cannot stress how much we value the input of all in the parent community, so please do come forward with your ideas and suggestions either at our meetings or any time via our website. Our AGM will be held in October, and we would encourage parents to come forward and take a more active or leading role in our activities. We are creating several new positions on the PTFA committee including Publicity and Entertainments Officers as well as new PTFA class representatives so that we can provide a really effective network of communication. As well as fundraising activities, we would really like to hold more social events, quizzes, dances etc as these are great ways of having fun and making new friends!
Katherine, Emma and Russell join me in thanking everyone for their fabulous support throughout the year - most notably the recent Summer Fest which raised an astonishing £2000 and which brought teachers, parents, families children and the local community together for such a great day of fun and entertainment.
Wishing you all a great and well-earned summer break and we look forward to meeting all new parents in September!
